Smart Home & Network Setup

Smart homes grow one gadget at a time. A bulb here, a camera there, a doorbell with its own app — until nothing talks to anything, the cameras keep dropping off Wi-Fi, and nobody remembers which account owns what. I untangle it, get everything working together, and make sure a $20 smart plug isn’t a way into your laptop.

FAQ

Common questions

Should I start with the check-up?

If you’re not sure how big the problem is, yes. In 90 minutes we’ll fix what we can and you’ll get a written plan. If you go on to book a full setup within 30 days, the check-up fee comes off the price.

Do you need to come to my house?

No. Everything is done remotely — on a video call where you point your phone at things, plus remote access to your router and hub apps. If something needs to be physically mounted or wired, you or a local installer handle that; I handle the setup and configuration.

Which smart home platform should I use?

It depends on your phones, your devices, and how much tinkering you want. Apple Home and Google Home are the simplest; Home Assistant is the most powerful. I’ll recommend one based on what you already own, not a sales pitch.

Can you help me choose devices before I buy?

Yes. A shopping list sized to your home and platform can be part of the proposal. You buy it, I set it up.

Does this cover small offices too?

Yes — offices have the same tangle of cameras, TVs, door locks, and guest Wi-Fi. For company laptops, accounts, and firewalls, see Fractional IT Management.

What does the optional monthly plan cover?

A small block of time for new devices, broken automations, firmware updates, and “why is the doorbell offline again” — so you don’t need a new project for every tweak.

Tell me what’s broken. I’ll map the way up.

A free 30-minute call to talk through your stack, your size, and the actual headache. You’ll leave with next steps, whether or not we work together.
